Elden Ring Runes: it's good it's being praised by people it's great, but with a few limitations, such as the fact that it's impossible to stop the game. This isn't something new for Souls-like titles Of course, but when Elden Ring's hype suggests this is the first of these that you're considering (or If you've aged or changed your life since you last played one) Then you need to be aware that you're able to suspend the game. You just need to do some stuff first.
If you're just getting started Souls-like titles let you bring up menus similar to a normal games, they do not actually pause the action, meaning that the moment you've located somewhere secure and comfortable to settle down, your game of juggling inventory could be interrupted by orbs in your face. And while earlier, strictly single player games had pause-like options for accessing certain options to quit and photo modes Since Miyazaki and co introduced online components to the games it's been impossible to simply pause them (the only exception being Sekiro).
While I applaud the intent as with all design choices in Souls games The brutality is the main reason--in reality I find this a snare to my heart. I'm a father of two who also has a job where my attentions are constantly being split in 1000 different directions, and while I'd like to play a game without interruptions, my reality is full of interruptions, so playing these kinds of games is an ongoing challenge for me. Elden Ring is no exception.
So I'm very amped to try this brand new mod that according to PC Gamer reports is now available to download. Called Pause The Game, and made by TechieW the mod does exactly what its name implies and also adds a real, working pause function to Elden Ring.
There's one caveat that one of the reasons why the game can't suspend is because it technically can't, since the online component wouldn't be able to function, therefore in order to Pause The Game you need to disable the Easy Anti-Cheat service, which will boot buy Elden Ring Runes in an offline mode. This allows you to temporarily pause the game, with the disadvantage of not being able to make use of the online elements for some, however, for others--like myself!--that's a trade-off worth making.
