A Message from DEC Chair Rick Minor
Dear Leon
County Democrat,
The Democratic Party has
reclaimed the White House, and our work over
the past few years has made us the majority
party in Washington DC once again.
Leon
County Democrats scored major victories in the
2008 elections. With hard work and
dedication, we helped elect Barack Obama as the
President of the United States, contributed
heavily to the victories of Alan Williams and
Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda in their campaigns
for the Florida House of Representatives, and
helped Akin Akinyemi become the newest member
of the Leon County
Commission.
However, there is still a lot of work to do in our local and state government. I’m hoping you will join our efforts at the Leon County Democratic Party to restore a government that values making responsible decisions, protecting our cherished freedoms, and promoting opportunities for all. We’re seeking a diverse group of energetic Democrats who are passionate about what they believe in and who are focused on RESULTS!
Since my election as
Chair of the DEC in December 2005, we’ve made
tremendous progress on a number of fronts. For the first time, our
county party has a fully-functional website
with an event calendar, calls to action, news
articles, and much more. We've launched a
fundraising program and now have
permanent office space, located in the
same building as the Florida Democratic
Party. And perhaps most
importantly, we're using a state-of-the-art
voter file system that allows us to
conduct voter outreach like never before.
We had an incredibly successful 2008,
but our continued success really depends on
people like you.
With your help, we can elect a
Democratic Governor and U.S. Senator in 2010,
increase the number of Democrats in Florida's legislature,
and ensure that
Democratic principles prevail in our local
government!
